Many women would rather stay at home with their children than go to a typical 9-5 corporate job. However, with rising costs, this nation has become dependent on having a two-income family. Although with rising gas and day care costs, families still need help keeping afloat. So how do these stay at home moms make it work for their families?
First, if you take a look at family expenses on how much you are paying childcare, gas, dry cleaning, etc. then you will realize that your take home pay isn't as nearly as much as you think it may be. Compare your take home monthly pay with your deductions towards childcare, gas, dry cleaning, etc.
Second, decide on how much your family needs for you to make to survive on. Do you need to make $300, $800 or $2000 to pay those bills and also put a little away for a rainy day?
Once that is established, you can get down to the nitty gritty. What are your interests? In order to be successful and make your at home venture work, you must have a passion for what you do.
For example, my passion is the corporate world and wine. I come from the shuffle and bustle of the corporate world. Choosing to stay at home with my son while keeping the atmosphere of the corporate world seemed quite impossible. However, I found that through the love of my wine that I can combine the two. Today, I work with corporations in helping them to find the most perfect corporate gifts. I also work with the average every day "Joe Schmo" in educating them on the many different wines and how to choose the best one for their lifestyle. Best of all, while I am having fun, I am also contributing to my family income, which in essence makes me feel good as a person.
